Helping people in their time of need

  Commander Lloyd Parker

Hello and welcome to the DMAT FL-6 website. My name is Lloyd Parker and I am the team commander.

The National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) http://ndms.dhhs.gov/ has designated DMAT FL-6 as an operational Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT). NDMS is the coordinating federal agency under the auspices of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security, which coordinates DMAT’s.

DMAT FL-6 is one of dozens of such teams in the country. There are a total of six teams in Florida.

The sponsoring organization for DMAT FL-6 is the Central Florida Disaster Medical Assistance Team, Inc, a Florida 501c3 non-profit corporation. CFDMAT, Inc. has a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with both FEMA and the Florida Department of Health, which establishes the formal relationship between our membership and those governmental agencies. This relationship provides our membership with employment benefits such as compensation, workers comp coverage, job protection, and medical liability protection under certain circumstances.

DMAT FL-6 is comprised of a broad variety of over 130 volunteer medical workers, administrative personnel, logisticians, and communicators from throughout
Central Florida. In our warehouse in Orlando we house a field hospital, with nationwide deployment capability prepared for 72 hours of self sustained operations.

DMAT FL-6 is prepared to support a wide variety of medical operations form deploying mission specific personnel to providing a full field hospital with complete staffing at the sites of major disasters.
